SS501 - Love Like This (For You)

It's out! Like I said, I like the choreography :). My favourite scene is 0:32-0:34 xD. I didn't like the scene where they were in the dark and we can only see glimpses of the boys; it's rather annoying ^^;;. I actually paused the MV a few times to learn how they do the L-O-V-E handsign, LOL; it's fun :DD.

I didn't mention this previously, but I do wonder why Hyunjoong's parts are the only ones that sound auto-tuned :S.

091030 Intro + Love Like This @ Music Bank
-- The intro was cool :). I like Leader's last move! And YAY for hand-held mics! They sound much better :)). Hyunjoong hit his high note just fine! See, he doesn't need auto-tune DD:. The dance moves were restricted, but I think that's an acceptable trade-off ^^;;. I caught Hyungjoon smiling at 1:24 x). Youngsaeng should cut his fringe; I wonder how he can see xP. And if my very sharp ears aren't failing me, someone's voice cracked, twice, during the chorus when they sang together xDD.

F.T Triple - Love Letter

Jaejin's voice is really, really nice here ♥. It's a nice song, but I think I like it a whole lot more after I know what the lyrics are saying, lol. Jaejin is now the lead singer and guitarist, Jonghun on piano, and Minhwan drums. At first I wasn't used to seeing them without the other two, but they are very talented, no? ^^ The boys look very good in the MV too, especially Jonghun; that thing on his head plus the white clothes and blond hair makes him look angelic *____*. And I love how Jaejin was looking down and smiling ruefully while rapping the lyrics at 3:00, PERIOD.

Performances:
091027 @ S PowerFM, Choi Hwajung's Power Time -- Jaejin's singing was flawless :).

091029 @ M!CountDown -- They did well! I think it's impressive how they can sing and play their instrument at the same time :). (Even though the instruments aren't plugged, they're still playing xP.) Minhwan looks REALLY good :DD. And he winked at 1:27! Jonghun has pretty fingers xDD.

091030 @ Music Bank
-- Jaejin has the cooler-looking electric guitar this time xP. I think Jonghun should dye his hair a lighter shade x). MINHWAN YOU'RE MAKING ME FEEL OLD DD:.

And I just have to say this: "Five Treasure Triple" does not make sense at all D:.

091024 Hwanhee - Bring It Back + Because I Missed Your Heart @ M!CountDown

The Bring It Back performance was totally awesome :DD. It's nothing short of impressive how he managed to sound absolutely fine while pulling off the dance moves, some of which were required him to bend down and dance on the floor. The dance moves were really smooth too. And he looked mighty fine! xD

Because I Missed Your Heart was good too. It was cool how he threw and caught the mic. I wonder why he smiled at 2:14; did he almost danced wrongly or something? xP I think the choreography of the song is cool, but I'd have preferred it if he could sing more of the chorus, since now he only sings half of it ^^;;.

Big Bang - 声をきかせて (Let Me Hear Your Voice)

Big Bang's latest Japanese release! Honestly I tend to like their Korean works much more than the Japanese ones, but this is a very nice song :)). Everyone sounds great. Taeyang's voice really shines here, I feel. Daesung always sounds awesome, 'nuff said. Seungri sounds good too, even though he didn't get that many parts. There was very little rap in the song, so GD and TOP had even less parts, haha ^^;;. TOP rapped in English, sounding pretty fluent too. (Can he speak English? :D)

The PV is pretty x). Is it just me or is Daesung not opening his eyes? I can't see them at all! I don't remember they were that small, LOL xP. TOP looks fly, as usual :D. And I've grown to like Taeyang a lot more :).

EDIT 30/10: After one day one night, the play count of this song has reached 100, and still counting. LOLOL.

Hwanhee - Everyday

Song of the day! I love the chorus; by the end of the song I'm sure you'll be singing along to it x).

Now I have no idea which is my favourite song off the album; this song, Because I Missed Your Heart or Late Confession. All three are of different genres, and they are all very nice :D.

Monday 26 October 2009

what i've been listening to recently x).

..other than SS501 and Hwanhee's mini albums, that is xD.

Taylor Swift - Breathe

I love this song so hard ♥♥♥.

蔡旻佑 - 你看不到的天空
-- One of the song I like from his newest album. I like the lyrics of the song too. My favourite line is either "幸福又快樂的地球人 不斷從我的身邊經過" or "每個時鐘都繼續轉動". Anyway, I thought the album is not bad, but somehow I felt that it sounds different from his previous albums. So I went to check and apparently this time he didn't compose all the songs himself, like he usually did. I wonder why :S. Other songs from the album that I like: 日蝕 | 寂寞, 好了.

Jason Mraz feat. Colbie Caillat - Lucky -- I absolutely love her voice! It's so, so gorgeous ♥. The harmonisation is nice too :).

091025 SS501 - Only One Day + Love Like This @ Inkigayo.

OMGOMGOMG they performed Only One Day! It was really well done too :)). Hyunkyu sounded nervous xP. Jungmin totally nailed his parts! The last part by Youngsaeng made me melt *__*. Everyone has nice hair and looks fly! Hyungjoon looks so awesome like that :DD.

Love Like This was okay, vocally. Hyunjoong's voice cracked once; I'm sorry Hyunjoong, I laughed a little xP. Other than that there were no other mishaps x). Did you catch Hyungjoon's wink at 3:14? xDD And and Youngsaeng was TOTALLY flirting with the camera at 3:58 and 4:06; LOLOL I loved that xD. Hyungjoon has his curly explosive hair again; whyy DD:. He must have got it curled again during the break, LOL. Luckily Hyunjoong didn't make his hair into devil-horns, HAHA xD. They were wearing tattoo-shirts which I don't like very much; the other set of outfits looked better :S.

honestly, i don't know.

I went to the toilet and looked at the mirror, and LOL, I was shocked at what I saw. If I had been walking around in some crowded place with that expression on, I think there's a high chance I'd have been stopped by some gangsters who thought that I was picking a fight with them. I didn't feel like eating, so I skipped lunch. I think it was just too much Chemistry one day, haha ^^;;. I did nothing but Chemistry today, but only managed to complete 2.5 Paper 2 and 1.5 Paper 1 =X.

Forget it; I'm not gonna try anymore. I've tried. Trust me, I've tried. But it's too difficult; I can't do it. I'm sorry. It's not you; it's me, all me.

I am a rock.

091024 Hwanhee - 심장을 놓쳐서 (Because I Missed Your Heart) @ Music Core

It's Hwanhee's debut performance as a solo artist too! :DD I love this song; the tune sticks easily in my head. Because you're in my heart~ Anyway, great performance! Hwanhee's is consistent in his vocals, as usual :). I almost laughed out loud at the adlibs part 'cos it reminded me of Brian imitating Hwanhee's exaggerated expressions when he sings, lol. He looks great too! Looks like he lost a lot of weight though; hope he's taking good care of himself :S.

I listened to Hwanhee's debut mini album, H Soul, and I must say that I'm not disappointed! It's got a good mix of upbeat dance songs, R&B songs and ballads. My favourite song is 늦은 고백 (Late Confession), which is a ballad. Hwanhee's voice is really, really nice and soothing here ♥.

I watched the Intimate Note episode featuring Fly to the Sky earlier today. I had lotsa laughter 'cos Brian was being his awesome self and Moon Hee Jun is the MC. Brian and Hwanhee have really good teamwork and they match well! I felt really sad, once again, that they aren't gonna be releasing albums together anymore :(. But during the show the duo clarified that they separated not because they are on bad terms with each other, so I'm gonna be keeping my fingers crossed for a reunion, or at least some kind of collaboration together, even when they are working separately as solo artists. Fly to the Sky hwaiting! ♥

091024 SS501's comeback @ Music Core.

There was a short Intro, where the spotlight showed four of them one by one, standing there forming L-O-V-E with their hand, and Hyunjoong emerged from bellow the stage forming a heart. (Special treatment for Leader, eh? ^^;;) Youngsaeng looked totally bad-ass while Jungmin winked, lol xD.

Next they performed Love Like This. They were using those stick-on mics (I don't know the proper term but it's not the hand-held ones xP); I think that's why they sounded too soft at some parts. They've improved vocally, though! Jungmin sounds the best in this performance, I feel. I know some fans don't like the choreography, but I like it :). They all did great! And I think the cameraman is a fan of Hyunjoong; he got lotsa screentime xD. I love how Jungmin is so smiley throughout the performance, and Kyujong too during the bridge.

Love Triple S' cheers! :))

As for their looks -- I don't like Hyungjoon's curly explosive hair, but he managed to pull it off and I love him no matter what, so it's okay x). I don't like the way Hyunjoong spiked his hair; it looks like a devil's horn. I usually don't have any issues with SS501's clothes 'cos like I said before, I think they have the best stylists, but I don't like that shirt Hyunjoong is wearing inside =X. I think everyone looks great, though :).

I think in terms of their comeback look, Youngsaeng wins hands-down :D. I like his hairstyle! And he has apparently been practising his !smexy look xP. Did you see him looking at the camera at 2:49? SO ADORABLE! I think I died xDD.

There are quite a few new boybands debuting and some other artists making their comebacks recently, so I hope SS501 can get the awards in the music shows. They totally deserve it! *crosses fingers* Come on, TripleS! :D

And anyway,

YES, SS501 IS BACK! (And I wished doubleHJ had kept their hairstyles like that^, haha ^^;;.)

*clicks replay for the nth time*

SS501 - Rebirth

After listening to the mini album a few times, I decided that this mini album is too awesome to not review, haha xD. The boys sound amazing in every track ♥.

1. Wasteland
Totally love the piano! It's an upbeat song, and one of the typical SS501 songs, which is a good thing x).

2. Love Like This (네게로) (To You) (fancam)
A very catchy song! It's techno, but I think their voices aren't too computerised, so it's still fine. And I like how Hyungjoon is the main singer in the choruses. His voice suits the song very well! (And I'm just biased, WHAT.) It's the title track of the mini album, and the teaser for the MV is out! But I'm gonna spare you my spazzing and spazz over the full MV when it's out xD.

3. 하루만 (Only One Day)
I LOVE THIS SONG LIKE, WHOA. It's a ballad, and a very pretty one at that. The boys sound absolutely gorgeous. Jungmin did a good job in building up the momentum of the song. My favourite part is the first part of the first chorus, sung by Hyungjoon. I don't know, there's something about the way he sings it that makes me go *_____*; I think it's the way he sings it quietly and the way his voice quivered in the last note. I listened to this song on repeat last night on my iPod, and seriously, I melted many times over. This song might just be my new favourite SS501 song :).

4. Obsess (중동...) (Poisoning...)
An R&B-ish song. By the end of the song you'd be singing along, "I'm obsessed with you, wanna be with you~"

5. 완.두.콩. (Green Peas)
This is a very sweet song that was written for Triple S :). The guitar background is really nice! The song is very relaxing, especially with the sound of the beach in the background ^^. I like how at the end they were saying to each other, "Good job!" haha xD.

Friday 23 October 2009

Hope you know this ain't easy, easy for me
But I have to

SS501 - 하루만 (Only One Day)

SS501'S NEW MINI ALBUM IS FINALLY OUT! *HAPPY TEARS*

That was me exaggerating, but I'm honestly ecstatic! It's been eons since the group released their first album so I was kinda disappointed that instead of a full second album they decided to release a mini album with only 5 songs, but the whole mini album is really awesome, so I have no complaints :D.

This^ song is my favourite off the album, as of the first listen ^^. It's so pretty, don't you think?

And I don't think I say this enough: I love Hyungjoon's voice so, so much ♥♥♥.
I'm angry at myself.

Wednesday 21 October 2009

move along, now.

온통 세상이 그대인데
그대만 그리는데
그대 앞에선 숨을 죽여요
온통 세상이 그대인데
그대만 보이는데
그대 앞에선 난 먼 곳만 봐요

And I looked away, like I always do.

Tuesday 20 October 2009

HAHAHA, there are lots of funny things around. They're hilarious. But I shouldn't be laughing. Not like this.

Damn, I lost to a fictional character.
Because it's worth it.

Monday 19 October 2009

Super Junior - 미워 (Hate U, Love U)

This is still my favourite Super Junior song, after all.

Sunday 18 October 2009

9th Street - 말도 없이 (Without Words)

One of the songs from You're Beautiful OST! I'm still restraining myself from watching the drama; aren't you proud of me LOL. I haven't even watched this^ video because I don't want to spoil it for myself, haha! The soundtracks are really good, anyway. This song is my favourite off the album! Been listening to it on repeat since yesterday ^^;;. Hongki has 2 solo tracks! ^^ Park Shinhye's voice is very high, and from A.N.JELL's version of the songs, it seems that she sings the back-up vocals. (Jang Geunsuk is the main singer.) So I wonder how she can pretend to be a male, lol.

I really want to watch the drama, but I won't, for now xP.

Saturday 17 October 2009

graduation.

Yesterday was J2's graduation day.

I realised that my class only got closer in the last few months, and yet now, we already have to part. I've been regretting this since the last week of school started, and I'm still regretting it now. I'm happy, though, that I've met all these great people. Seriously, you guys rock :D. I hope we can stay in touch.

I am actually part of the reason why I didn't get closer with the rest of class. If you know me well enough, you'd know that I've always had walls around me; lead walls thick enough to absorb even gamma radiation. For me, showing what I feel without hiding anything, is like walking around with a signboard saying, "Kick me, I'm brittle." So I used all means to hide my vulnerable self, insecurities, inferiority complex. I didn't talk to people first, not because I didn't want to, but because I was afraid of rejection; I didn't talk that much, partly because I was worried that people would find whatever I said uninteresting; I stayed away, because I thought I'd be left out even when I was in the crowd. In short, I didn't like myself, so there was no way others would like me for who I was, or so I thought.

A few months into this year, though, I started liking myself more, and I diverted my "don't-care" attitude from not caring about the things going on around me, to not caring about what other people would think of me. It wasn't easy, putting down a mask I've worn for as long as I could remember. But slowly, I could say what I felt and do what I wanted, without being bothered if I would get laughed at. I could be myself, because I had accepted myself. I think that's why I eventually got a little closer with the class, haha ^^;;.

I've learnt a lot in these two years, not just academically, but also from the people I've met. To everyone who became a part of my life, thank you :).

Thursday 15 October 2009

yep!

Wednesday 14 October 2009

No; no more.

Monday 12 October 2009

ARGH.

I'm really, really frustrated.

And the Pandora's box clicked open.

Sunday 11 October 2009

That's what researching for GP does;

..it scares me. Yesterday while researching about religion, I chanced upon a video of a 12-year-old boy in Taliban beheading a man; while researching about science, I discovered that now one can easily buy "reborn babies" -- baby dolls made from vinyl that look disturbingly real -- through the internet.

A few minutes ago, while researching about virtual worlds, I came across an article on memory. I read the whole 4 pages of it, but here are some excerpts.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Every time we remember, it seems, we add new details, shade the facts, prune and tweak. Without realizing it, we continually rewrite the stories of our lives. Memory, it turns out, has a surprising amount in common with imagination, conjuring worlds that never existed until they were forged by our minds.

Instead of being a perfect movie of the past, psychologists found, memory is more like a shifting collage, a narrative spun out of scraps and constructed anew whenever recollection takes place.

As you replay these memories, you reawaken and reconsolidate them hundreds of times. Each time, you replace the original with a slightly modified version. Eventually you are not really remembering what happened; you are remembering your story about it. “Reconsolidation suggests that when you use a memory, the one you had originally is no longer valid or maybe no longer accessible,” LeDoux says. “If you take it to the extreme, your memory is only as good as your last memory. The fewer times you use it, the more pristine it is. The more you use it, the more you change it.” We’ve all had the experience of repeating a dramatic story so many times that the events seem dead, as if they came from a novel rather than real life. This might be reconsolidation at work.

Todd Sacktor, a professor of physiology, pharmacology, and neurology at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, has found a blunter but more powerful technique that can eradicate whole categories of memory. He studies protein kinase M-zeta (PKMzeta), which is involved in memory maintenance. As calcium rushes into a memory neuron, PKMzeta is synthesized, linking up with spare glutamate receptors and dragging them to the synapse, where memory construction occurs. With more receptors at the synapse, signals are boosted and amplified and the memory persists.

When Sacktor deactivated PKMzeta with a compound called zeta-inhibitory peptide (ZIP), he got a spectacular response: total amnesia for one type of memory. Rats that had learned a day or a month before to avoid part of a platform that was rigged with electric shock forgot everything they knew about the location generating the jolt. “You inhibit the PKMzeta and those glutamate receptors float away very, very fast,” he says. “As a result, the memory is lost—very, very fast.”

Certain types of memory are encoded in different brain areas, and depending on where Sacktor injects the inhibitor in his animals, he can zap away different categories of memory. In the hippocampus, he erases memory for spatial locations like the platform; in the amygdala, fear memories; in the insular cortex, memories of nauseating taste. Very rarely, Sacktor says, neurosurgeons remove nerve clusters to help disturbed psychiatric patients who do not respond to any other treatment. His research may eventually provide a way to erase memory without causing damage.

The implications are staggering. If stored memories were inscribed in the brain, it is hard to imagine how flipping one chemical switch could erase them so quickly. “It really is a paradigm shift in how people think about long-term memories,” Sacktor says. In the old view, erasure should cause permanent brain damage as the synapses are ripped apart. Instead, Sacktor’s rats’ brains remain intact. Once the ZIP treatment wears off, the animals behave and even learn normally again. “It’s like wiping a hard disk,” he says.

None of these researchers are looking to create brain-zapped, amoral zombies—or even amnesiacs. They are just trying to take control of the messy, fragile biological process of remembering and rewriting and give it a nudge in the right direction. Brunet’s patients remember everything that happened, but they feel a little less tortured by their own pathological powers of recollection. “We’re turning traumatic memories into regular bad memories,” Brunet says. “That’s all we want to do.”
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Scary, huh? Shit, it is freakin' scary.

Friday 9 October 2009

optimism :).

I don't know why I usually listen to sadder songs, other than because they generally sound better and are easier to relate to, but I've been listening to more optimistic songs these past few days. That's why, even though I look half dead in school (been sleeping at wee hours), I'm generally happier these days x).

I think no song can be more optimistic than American Idol winning songs, which are all about achieving one's dreams. So those are exactly what I've been listening to: Taylor Hicks' Do I Make You Proud, Jordin Sparks' This is My Now, David Cook's Time of My Life, and Kris Allen's No Boundaries.

See if you can figure out which lines are from which songs x).

I, was never the one to raise my hand; lived in a shell, hiding from myself; was so afraid, 'cos I thought I'd reached the end.
But that was then.
Now I know that I am made of more than my yesterdays, and I’ve learned to love myself, in spite of me.
And you; you gave me one good reason to fight and never walk away.
So here I am, rising from the ashes, finding my wings;
realising that all that I needed was there all along, within my reach, as close as the beat of my heart.
I'm holding on, believing that I'll make it through the pain, to get to that one thing.
I don't know where the future's heading, but nothing's gonna bring me down.

I'll taste every moment and live it out loud; break every rule, 'cos there's nothing between me and my dreams.
'Cos I know this is the time, to be more than a name or a face in the crowd.
'Cos I know, this is the time of my life.

Jiayou, everyone :).
Break every rule 'cause
There's nothing between you and your dreams

Thursday 8 October 2009

Damn it.

Wednesday 7 October 2009

First sign of madness; talking to yourself.

Tuesday 6 October 2009

i need stress.

My Prelim results are: B E E B D, for P C M E GP, respectively. Seriously, that's really bad. But the most scary thing is, I don't think I've actually realised just how bad that is.

As time passes, we start to realise that we can't have it all, so we start to take little joys in and make do with what we have.

Thursday 1 October 2009

괜찮아요 ’cause I understand
